The 5th Annual SPARK! Conference will provide a diverse offering of training focused on best practices for creative engagement through art, nature and culture. The conference will feature nationally recognized presenters, in-depth and hands-on sessions which will include brain health, art-making, grant writing, building community partnerships and many others.
If you are a museum, cultural institution, professional caregiver, activities or medical professional looking for fresh and engaging actives to enhance programs for people with memory loss, this conference is for you!

Thursday Keynote Speaker:

Gary Glazner is the founder and Executive Director of the Alzheimer’s Poetry Project, (APP). The APP was the recipient of the 2013, Rosalinde Gilbert Innovations in Alzheimer’s Disease Caregiving Legacy Award and the 2012 MetLife Foundation Creativity and Aging in America Leadership Award in the category of Community Engagement. The National Endowment for the Arts listed the APP as a “best practice.” NBC’s “Today” show, and NPR’s “All Things Considered” have featured segments on Glazner’s work.

Friday Keynote Speaker:

Dr. Alexis Eastman is a faculty member in the Division of Geriatrics and Gerontology in the Department of Medicine. As a clinical geriatrician, she provides medical care for older adults in inpatient and outpatient settings, both in primary care and in memory care. She serves as Co-Director of Clinical Operations for Primary and Specialty Care in the Division of Geriatrics and Gerontology, and as Medical Director of the Badger Prairie Health Center in Verona, Wisconsin.
